Yesterday, we came together for something that truly matters, protecting our coastline. In partnership with the Marine Conservation Society, we hosted a beach clean in Sandown, and despite the chilly morning, 38 volunteers showed up, ready to make a difference.
And what a difference we made!
What We Found
In just a few hours, we collected 13.25 kg of waste; a mix of glass, plastic, lollipop sticks, rope, and man-made wood. It’s shocking to see just how much litter ends up on our shores, but knowing we removed that much means fewer hazards for marine life and a cleaner, safer beach for everyone to enjoy.
Why It Matters
The Marine Conservation Society works tirelessly to protect our oceans, tackling pollution, restoring marine habitats, and fighting for healthier seas. Events like this aren’t just about picking up litter, they’re about raising awareness, changing habits, and inspiring action. Every bit of waste we remove and where possible recycled, is one less threat to wildlife and a step closer to cleaner, healthier coastlines.
A Huge Thank You
We couldn’t have done this without our incredible volunteers, thank you for giving up your Sunday morning to help! A special shoutout to our staff who rolled up their sleeves and got stuck in, and to Betapak for supplying most of the tools we needed to get the job done.
A Beautiful (and Cold!) Morning
Yes, it was chilly, but the sun was shining, and the team spirit was amazing. There’s something really rewarding about coming together for a shared goal and let’s be honest, nothing beats the feeling of seeing a beach looking cleaner and healthier because of your efforts.
What’s Next?
This isn’t a one time effort. Keeping our beaches clean is an ongoing challenge, and we’d love to see even more people get involved next time. Whether it’s joining the next clean-up, reducing plastic use, or spreading awareness, every little action helps.
Thank you again to everyone who took part; you’ve made a real difference! Let’s keep working together to protect and preserve our beautiful coastline.
Would you like to get involved next time? Keep an eye on our updates for the next beach clean!
