On Sunday 21st September 2025, Top Mops Event Services held its second Beach Clean in partnership with the Marine Conservation Society, this time on Shanklin Beach, Isle of Wight — right in the middle of Great British Beach Clean week.
Under clear skies and autumn sunshine, 39 volunteers, including 25 children, joined us for just over an hour before the tide came in. Together, they collected 15.2kg of litter — proof that even a short time spent making a difference can have a big impact.

What We Found
From the sand and shingle, volunteers recovered:
- 107 cigarette stubs
- 27 plastic biobeads
- 20 polystyrene fragments
- 12 pieces of fishing line
- Plus bottles, caps, lids, and even two wooden boards with nails
While the numbers might sound small, each item collected represents something that won’t end up in the ocean, harm marine life, or pollute our coastline.
A Shared Effort, A Shared Responsibility
This year’s event was about more than collecting litter — it was about connection, community, and awareness. Many of the team described the clean as “like therapy” — a moment of calm, purpose, and shared effort in a busy world.
We’re incredibly proud to have brought people together — families, colleagues, and local residents — to make a tangible difference, while contributing data to the Marine Conservation Society’s national records that track marine litter trends and support positive policy change.
Why It Matters
Our work in event cleaning and waste management gives us a front-row seat to the importance of sustainable practices — but it also shows that real change starts locally.
By stepping away from the large-scale event sites and onto our own beaches, we’re reminded that sustainability isn’t a project or a target — it’s an ongoing journey.
We remain committed to doing our part, from improving waste solutions at major UK events to reducing our environmental footprint as a business and supporting initiatives that protect our planet.

Looking Ahead
We’d like to thank everyone who gave up their time to take part — especially the children who joined in with such enthusiasm and care.
We’ll continue to support the Marine Conservation Society’s mission and plan future clean-ups as part of our wider Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) commitments.
Together, small actions lead to lasting impact. 🌊💚
